For many, no food symbolizes the South quite like the green tomato (thank you, Fannie Flagg). This tasty little invention -- the Tomolive -- is a delectable reminder of just why we Southerners love this unusual garden creation so very much.

Tiny green tomatoes are packed and pickled in the very brine that makes olives so darned flavorful. At the Bryant Preserving Company in Alma, Arkansas -- where they've been making the Old South brand since 1947 -- the tomatoes are carefully selected for size and acidity, aged and soaked in brine, graded again, then cured in the jar for at least a year before they are sent out for sale.
